If you are told to mention one of the most impressive places in Marrakesh, Madrasa Ben Youssef comes to mind first without hesitation.

Madrassa is a seminary (higher education institution), here Ben Youssef is the largest school in Marrakech built in the 16th century. Even so, it is not easy to find this building surrounded by any exotic wall in the Medina's maze, the tourists are a local person - sometimes in a blazing sun, in a different place It is not something that you can not reach easily unless you become care for the guides who requested an unreasonable guidance fee brought back to you.

Finally arrived, many of the people who entered this building will be surprised. That is exactly a different world if you step one step. The tranquil taste just a few seconds ago is a lie silence.

Take a deep breath slowly after swinging the neck vertically and horizontally as if sifting through the body warming up. By doing so, when switching the state of mind and body, I feel that a precise beauty like a dizzy will soak in the body.

The beauty of Islamic architecture lies in its inner beauty.
Witnessing the world of precision beauty that did not imagine in the appearance in the world where beauty is solely trying to repair only the appearance is witnessing that it is very dazzling It is. The walls are bright but all are decorated with arabesque geometric patterns, so they feel intelligent calm atmosphere.

Madrassa left me a strong impression because the building preserved the shape as a school of a boarding school as it was. The courtyard with a brilliant wall and the surroundings of the worship room were surrounded by two-story dormitory groups, and I was able to look into each dormitory room.

The dorm room is very simple and has a structure that can incorporate external light well. I imagined the appearance of a former student who devoted studies in this ascetic room.

I am sure that it seems to be far from most people, just as I said the seminary. However, I myself have a time when I felt close to the existence of the theological school in my life.

My parents are Catholic and go to church everyday from childhood and in a boyhood I experienced a priest's priest called "Mass answer" for about ten years. And as I went up to junior high, the church's priests and sisters got a voice saying "Will not you become a priest?" For my one older sister who had already entered the monastery, there was a time when I thought that the invitation would be too realistic and furious to respond to the voice of an adult. But I refused, as I knew that neither will nor aptitude was for myself, even though I was holding on even the pros and cons of God's existence regardless of the hard teachings of the surroundings. I think that it was this time that I showed my will consciously for the first time in my life.

I was surprised at entering an ordinary public junior high school. Suddenly, it seemed like the adults started to talk in real intention. Were you living in such an ugly world, shivering for the narrowness of adults and the various unreasonable things that happen in the narrow world of school.
An important friend from an elementary school, the most familiar friend got bullied. He was excellent in grades and his head was quick. And I combine humor and kindness which is not disgusting, I envied the character. Such a person was affixed the label of "girls studies", and as a result of its dwarfing of its personality, it was misleading by some human beings, and was violent as a mere source of stress dissipation. It continued on a daily basis. I could not do anything I tried to consult with my teacher many times. Were all my friends all I could do to protect myself, nobody had the atmosphere to say such a thing. Next is ours. It seems that he is thinking that he is giving up, or just overriding patience and passing through now. I wrote letters to talk to the teacher, but I could not hand it over after all. I would have merely been unwilling, but at that time I hated that there were no reliable adults. I thought why some adults would not reach out.

One night I gradually went out of the futon and kneered on the futon. And I prayed to God for the first time in my life.
"Please help me, I'm sorry I can not help you, ok."
From that night, I came out of the futon not to notice my parents every night, I kneered on the futon and prayed to God. "Please help me ○ ○."
I remember as though it was yesterday 's hotness that burns an electric stove' s skin burning while trembling when praying.

When I looked into the frugal dormitory room of Madrasa Ben Youssef, the things that were close to God revived vividly. I felt nostalgia and familiarity with the loneliness of students who used to study in this room.
Surely science and prayer are in close proximity. I think that science is something that can not be done without a deep motive similar to prayer. For me, prayers have become somewhat far away, but Madrasa Ben Youssef left me a profound impression as a place where academics and prayer fold over.
